I will be honest, as usual, about certain “rituals”, like removing makeup. I love soap and water – especially with a Greek soap that I bought in April (4 bars, to last) 🙂 But I don’t have the soaps all the time with me, where I may go, so once I was at a friend’s house and she asked me whether I had a makeup remover to lend. I didn’t, but then knowing that she likes removers, I bought the bareMinerals Facial Cleanser as a present to her. Fact is that I liked it so much, that the next week I bought one for me, as well!

Magazines are a great source of recommendations – sometimes really good, sometimes superfluous. I read about this serum and wanted it – but I am still deciding the category that Astalift Brightening Serum belongs to.

Once a very good friend of mine recommended a Chanel product, because she knows that I 1) love Chanel makeup and 2) love illuminating products. Actually she said that it seemed that Jennifer Lopez wore it: the Soleil Tan de Chanel – Sheer Illuminating Fluid.

It is an interesting product and it does what it promises: it illuminates the areas where you apply it, like cheeks, nose, chin – to give a healthy color and glow, like if you were “sun kissed” 🙂 The effect is natural. The problem is that, normally, people who want a full makeup apply foundation and for it to last, a layer of powder to set. After that, if you try to apply a creamy product – it feels like a foundation – the effect is gone. Actually, the effect is a mess. Though if you  apply it after your foundation and then blend all, it’s OK. If you try to do it and then think “now I will set all with facial powder”, again, no effect at all. So if you don’t need foundation or powder, it’s a good product, with a natural and subtle finish – maybe even too subtle. The container is not practical. There’s no pump. You have to open and turn it to your hand, so it starts to “run”. But it’s a bit messy, in my opinion. Would I buy it again? No. But as I said, it’s a good product, with Chanel quality.

Because I review many serums, and many of them are anti-aging – uh… is there such a thing? Honestly, maybe “delay aging” 🙂 – people may think I am in desperate need of anti-aging products. I guarantee I am not – I just love serums and trying products. Curiosity, above all. So here we go, one more anti-aging product: Yves Saint Laurent Forever Youth Liberator.

Loving serums, I was really crazy about this new product, when I got to know it – at first I read about it, and then couldn’t relax till it was mine. Why? I read the magazine’s review – and amazingly, looking for more reviews on internet I couldn’t find many. Even without any further review, I still wanted it, cause the brand is very good. Neal’s Yard Remedies from Covent Garden in London is all about natural products, fantastic scents and very effective products. So I really wanted to get this serum – Frankincense Intense Concentrate Instantly Age-Defying.

Some time ago, I read in a magazine something like “favorite product of the year 2013” and was eager to try it – the Melvita Miraculous Extraordinary Water. You can find that review here.

At the time I really thought “wow, the magazine didn’t lie”. That product is amazing, I still think so, but now I found one that you can say is similar, but a step further – get to know Shiseido The Skincare Hydro-Nourishing Softener. Oh my word, it’s fabulous!

So, you like to test products. Good brands tend to have good quality products. You then buy the advertised products and think they will accomplish what they promise…

Guerlain Météorites Perles Illuminating Powder

This is the Guerlain Météorites Perles Teint Rose Illuminating Powder and as you can see, I was one of the persons in the first paragraph – believing that this powder would be amazing. For a Guerlain product it lacks some packaging quality, just for the start. The container is beautiful, golden, with lovely detailing on the lid – it reminds me of a powder container that my grandmother had and I loved it. It feels really vintage and elegant. The problem is that it chipped so quickly, and I was so disappointed and surprised of such (bad) quality coming from Guerlain… and for the price paid.

It’s well known by now that I love Chanel products – the quality really suits my sensitive skin. Not only my face, but even my lips are sensitive, so I really need a product that protects them. And Chanel does so – with my latest tries, two lipsticks that accomplish what they promise.
