Sfera published a new Spring lookbook for men a few days ago. The clothes are flowy and light mostly in blue and white shades. You will also notice floral, stripes and polka dot patterns for more stylish combinations. The looks are suitable both for Spring’s warm mornings and cool nights. You can choose to wear them for a morning coffee or a gathering for drinks with your buddies. One thing is certain, this lookbook fires us up and we can’t wait until Summer arrives!!
Six months ago PETA revealed how the making of angora knitwear was impressively cruel to rabbits. Zara (or actually, the company that also owns Massimo Dutti and Bershka) now banned angora from all its future collections, following the steps of Marks & Spencer, Topshop, Primark and H&M.
Gap welcomes their new spring collection with a revolutionary denim line for women only, the Resolution Denim, from an elastic fabric for a perfect and infinitely flattering fit. The new resolution jeans are soft and comfortable, follow the line of the body, while lift the hips and the thighs. It is available in a variety of washes and fits like True Skinny, High-Rise Skinny and Slim Straight. In the 20th century, the marketing of gender stereotypes meant that the so-called tomboys were a bunch of women against their own gender. There’s now a voice to be heard about the subject – actually to be read. Tomboy Style: Beyond the Boundaries of Fashion, by Lizzie Garrett Mettler. This book celebrates the opposite of any stereotype: it’s not against any gender, but meant to be inspired by the look, spirit, audacity and character of the tomboy style and its “creators”.
Logomania is back with total strength! It was a sign of style and good taste in the 90s, when you could wear brands and their visible logos from head to toe… after some time, it was restricted to sunglasses and some bags. The new century considered wearing some logos kitsch and tasteless. Now Louis Vuitton (who never stopped displaying the famous LV logo on their goods), for example, launched a collection – as part of the 160th brand anniversary – called “Celebrating Monogram” (or the Icon and the Iconoclasts), with designers such as Christian Louboutin, Karl Lagerfeld and Rei Kawakubo, among many others, showing their take on Louis Vuitton goods. Lagerfeld, for instance, created boxing gloves and even a punching bag using LV logo. Louboutin designed a shopping trolley and Rei Kawakubo, the Comme des Garçons designer, the bag shown below.
As a self-confessed shoe lover, with many hundreds of pairs, I don’t know what’s going on – suddenly, an addiction to bags was developed too… but how can someone possibly avoid this amazing collection of bags, called Fiamma, by Salvatore Ferragamo? It displays, of course, so high quality and so great taste and elegance… impossible to avoid just peeping at least once.
Greek designer Mary Katrantzou and her vibrant colors and prints are now a collection for Adidas and it will be in stores on November 15th. Sneakers, neoprene tops, jackets, body-tight dresses with the designer’s signature – a kaleidoscope of colors, even a bit psychedelic, we can say!
